If you are receiving unwanted email, we have found a great program which you may find very useful. It is called "MAILWASHER" and can be downloaded from Mailwasher Pro
This small program enables you to open your mailbox online and control what you want to do with your emails. You can check who the email is from and delete it if you do not want it. It identifies virus attachments and even gives you the opportunity to "bounce" an email to send it back where it came from making your address appear invalid to the sender.
We have used Mailwasher Pro for a number of years and found it to faultless as the main defense against spam. Know that your Email is Received - Use MSGTAG Notification
Use MSGTAG to be notified that your recipient has opened your email. MSGTAG (1.1MB download) is available in free and paid versions. The free version works fine and should suit most people but adds a message to the footer of your email telling your recipient that the sender has been notified that the email has been opened.
The upgrade to the PLUS version enables you to remove the footer tag or add your own footer messages. We use this version and it has been very helpful in following up receipt of emails to know that our invoices and other important messages have been received.

Outlook Inbox Problem
Outlook 98 and 2000 have a known problem where inbox file storage is allowed to accumulate. If the emails and attachments in your mailbox reach 2 gigabystes in capacity, the inbox goes blank and ceases to function. Information on how to fix the problem is available on the Microsoft support site but their mailbox cropping utility has the potential to delete data.
My suggestion is to read the Microsoft documentation first and then try the following:
1. Make a copy of your mailbox file (it is usually called inbox.pst but could be something else eg mailbox.pst). This file is a bit hard to find depending on which operating system used - do a search for *.pst on your C:/ drive if you can't find it. Copy and paste the file to another folder so that you have another copy.
2. Open Outlook and delete files from your sent items and deleted files folder. Close Outlook.
3. Run SCANPST.EXE from windows explorer - you will have to dig for it in the program files/common files folder. It is the inbox repair utility. Browse for your inbox PST folder and run scanpst.exe on it. Select backup if the utility finds errors.
4. You should then be able to open Outlook and find your inbox working but there may still be errors. (Having some errors in not being able to delete/archive older inbox items is better than losing them and not knowing what you have lost).
5. Go through your mail folders and archive your emails.
There are no guarantees with this fix - it just seems better than the alternative of losing essential emails. (We accept no liabilty for use of the above information to recover your emails)
Another option you could try first is to open Outlook Express and import your Outlook 2000 inbox.
